Completing and Naming Your Corporation

To complete and name your corporation in New Mexico, there are a few important steps to follow. First, you need to fill out the Articles of Incorporation form, which can be requested from the Business Services Division. Once completed, you can submit the form by mail, phone, or in person at the New Mexico Capitol Annex North in Santa Fe.

When naming your corporation, make sure to choose a name that is not already in use by another business. You can check the availability of a name on the Business Services Division website. Include the corporation identifier in the name, such as “Inc.” or “Corp.”

It’s also important to appoint a registered agent and incorporator for your corporation. The registered agent is responsible for receiving legal documents on behalf of the corporation, and the incorporator is the person who signs the Articles of Incorporation. Both should have a New Mexico street address.

Finally, don’t forget to create the bylaws for your corporation. Bylaws outline the rules and regulations of the company and should be tailored to your specific business needs. If you need assistance with this step, consider consulting an attorney.
